Man Grabs Teen While She Walks Home From School On Long Island: Police

A homeless man was arrested after he harassed a young Long Island girl trying to walk home from school, authorities said.

Christopher Christopheren, a 44-year-old homeless man, was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 12 after he allegedly grabbed a teen girl and yelled at her while she walked home from school, police said.

It happened on Tuesday, Sept. 12 in Merrick, according to Nassau County Police.

At approximately 2:50 p.m., a 14-year-old girl was walking on Merrick Road, on her way home from John F. Kennedy High School when she noticed 44-year-old Christopher

Christopheren walking toward her.

He grabbed her tightly by the arm and screamed obscenities at her, police said.

The girl was able to break free and run home.

A few hours later, the girl and her parents saw Christopheren walking by the CVS on Merrick Road in Bellmore.

Christopheren, who is homeless, was placed under arrest and charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
